// CASE STUDY

Northwest Compressor

A family-owned compressor company in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, fixing and installing industrial air compressors since the 1990s.

Full disclosure: NORDVEST was built inside this shop. This is where every feature got tested first.

// BEFORE

The information was there, it just wasn't working for us.

We started on paper, then moved to a Windows 95-era plugin that stopped getting meaningful updates. When we just couldn’t make it work anymore, we had to find something else.

We looked at the players in the space, from the housecall apps to the big titans. None of them really knew what a compressor service company does. HVAC came closest, but at a cost we just couldn’t make pencil out financially. So we built a glorified spreadsheet to track the work. It was better than nothing, and it was the story for years, but we knew we needed something more. So we moved that spreadsheet into NORDVEST. Finally, the information started to work for the business instead of holding it hostage.

// THE ROLLOUT

One day to switch over

The move was staged, not a leap. The office went first. Our techs kept their paper while the system settled, and mobile is still rolling out. Training was quick, but the team was able to keep doing the work, and NORDVEST works the way we work.

The changeover itself took one day.

The part that won our techs over was the hour prediction. The system forecasts what each timer will read on service day. On some machines it lands within a few hours over a 90-day span.

// AFTER

What the numbers say

Lower parts spend in one summer
45%
Forecast only what the machines needed instead of buying blind from a spreadsheet. Spring through summer 2026, on a fleet of 1,699 machines.
Huge reduction in parts runs
2 weeks saved
With the right information in hand, our sales team was selling, not driving missing parts out to a tech waiting on them.
More service work documented
+191%
Nearly three times the documented work, in about half the recording time, against the same season a year earlier.
“NORDVEST has significantly improved my workflow and provided tools and systems I didn’t even realize I needed. Many of the limitations and pain points I had with previous systems have been completely solved. I can’t see myself going back to our old systems, and I’m excited to see the continued improvements and quality-of-life upgrades NORDVEST has ahead.”

The smaller numbers point the same way. The 90-day parts plan fell more than 80%, with stockout alerts down from 34 to 6. These forecasts allow us to combine monthly small orders into just one or two per quarter, saving a lot on time and shipping. An oil sample takes 2 minutes to file instead of 15. And nearly $60,000 of parts usage is now documented against jobs, not blindly in hard-to-find invoices.

Numbers from our production database, August 2026 snapshot. Percentages compare like periods and are calculated from QuickBooks costs. Time figures use our own before-and-after estimates.
